  |
|
Hi. I use IE for my browser and every time I do a search in Google I get a stupid bar on the left side of my screen called "Internet Speed Monitor". I really dislike this thing with a strong passion and would love for it to go away forever. However, every time I do a search, it comes back! Eeek! Anyone know how to program your browser not to let it come up? Thanks.

try going to tools when you are in internet explorer the go to manage addons. Then go to enable or disable addons. You should get a list of them. Find the one you weant and you can disable it or enable it. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks, but that's not one of the choices in Manage Add-Ons.

THANK YOU TIGS. I had no idea it was a program on my computer; IE must have downloaded it automatically at some point when I did an upgrade! So I went into start and there it was sitting there all inconspicuous-like. Unistalled the sucker.
YerfdogBro, I did download Firefox quite awhile back and i had so much trouble with it, because it would not let me go into any of the websites that I needed. So I uninstalled it. (I had no time to go through all of the variety of functions and options that it offered. I did try some but it was too much a pain in my rear so I just uninstalled it. )

Great!
The post below has a couple more steps that you should follow up on to be sure. I don't know what a P.I.T.A pop-up producer is but it seemingly has the ability to reinstall itself
---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------
"Internet Speed Monitor is a P.I.T.A pop-up producer. Check Add\Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall it.
Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files and open it. There may be remains of a folder Named ISM. Delete it.
Delete all the files in your prefetch folder too.
Then do a search for a file called bndloader.dll. Delete it otherwise it will keep reinstalling it self.
After all that, download a program called SpywareBlaster spyblaster It will run silently in he background and keep these types of programs from ever installing on your machine. All you have to do to it is run the updater every week or two. Another handy program is called Spybot ."spybot. Install it, run the updater and scan your PC for any other unwanted programs. This too will need updating every so often. The best thing about both of these programs is they are totally free."
